12 Recommending Colleagues on LinkedIn Recommending a colleague is a way to recognize them for their hard work, and recommendations help your colleagues build a more credible profile. You can leave a recommendation on the profile of any of your first-degree connections. 1. Log in to LinkedIn, and you will arrive at your home page. In the search bar at the very top of your homepage, type the name of the colleague that you would like to recommend. You must be connected in order to give the colleague a recommendation. 2. Once you have located their profile, move your cursor over the Send a Message drop down triangle to see more options. Click Recommend. 3. Follow the instructions to write a brief recommendation for your colleague. Feel free to include: how long you have known them/how long you have worked together, what kinds of projects you have worked on together, and any admirable qualities they may have. Example: I had the privilege of coordinating with Emilie on expanding MNP's social media activities for recruitment. Emilie has a strong marketing aptitude, a creative mind and a determination to see every project through to completion. She has a very promising marketing career ahead of her and I hope that our paths cross again one day, as long as she's not working for the competition ;)
