2014 T4 Filing Deadline

Just a friendly reminder that February 28 falls on a Saturday this year. Here's what you need to know.

Canada Revenue Agency

Keep in mind that the CRA filing deadlines for T4, T4A slips and related summaries is the last day of February. However, since February 28, 2015 falls on a Saturday the following is stated on the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) website:

"If the due date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday, your return is due the next business day."

This means for 2015 you can still file on Monday, March 2.

Revenu Québec

RQ has advised that although their General Information Business inquiry personnel state that returns must be filed by February 28, 2015, the understanding is they will accept RL-1, RL-2 and related summaries until Monday, March 2, 2015.

The Canadian Payroll Association still recommends, as a Payroll best practice, that you file your RL-1/2 and related summaries by Friday, February 27, 2015 to ensure compliance.
