We understand that you might have concerns about this new technology, particularly around your privacy. However, you can rest assured that these clock terminals do not "take your fingerprints" or put your personal data at risk. Here are answers to your top questions about our new biometric time clock: Why do we need a biometric time clock? We are installing a biometric clock to make sure that all employees get paid accurately and on time. The technology automates many of our payroll processes, so we can reduce the errors that might occur when we manually enter your hours. A biometric clock also provides us with a higher level of security, as it prevents unauthorized individuals from entering our building. Will the biometric clock store my fingerprints? The biometric terminals do not capture and store actual fingerprints. They simply collect data on your time and attendance. The clocks capture sample data and convert it into binary data using mathematical algorithms. Then, they store the binary data (not your fingerprints). It is virtually impossible to recreate your original fingerprint image. This visual shows how the technology works: But will it store photos of my face or eyes? No. The process is the same of facial recognition. The clock doesn't take an actual image of your face or eyes. It uses mathematical algorithms to capture different points in the face and then turns them into binary data.
