7 Connecting with Others on LinkedIn There are many ways for you to connect with others on LinkedIn. The easiest way is to seek out the individual you would like to connect with using the search function. 1. Log in to LinkedIn, and you will arrive at your home page. In the search bar at the very top of your homepage type the name of the individual that you would like to connect with. 2. Once you have opened their profile, click on the blue Connect button. 3. In order to eliminate the possibility of spam, you are asked to acknowledge how you know the individual you are trying to connect with. Select one of the bullet options. 4. Always delete the canned impersonal note that accompanies your invitation to connect, and include a personal note in the field under "Include a personal note:" Tell them who you are, how you know them, and why you are connecting with them. Click Send Invitation to invite the individual to connect. Example: Hi Sean, My name is Emilie, and I work at Avanti Software Inc. It was really great meeting you at the Canadian Payroll Tradeshow last week when you stopped by our booth. I really enjoyed talking with you about the current trends of Canadian Payroll. What was your favourite part of the tradeshow? I hope you have a great day. Emilie Hutchinson
