5. DOCUMENTATION + TRAINING = SUCCESS
The implementation phase is when the new processes and software use are foremost in your mind. As
you establish best practices and determine process flow take this opportunity to create user documents
to capture it all.
Having easy to access reference guides will help users adopt the new solution quickly and provide them
with the tools they need to feel confident they are getting the most from the new solution. It will also add
to their comfort level when they go live to know they have reference material should they have questions.
In addition make sure that end users receive the training they need and have a subject matter expert
available to them as they start navigating their way in the new solution.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION
Providing user training on your own data and documentation that outlines real life scenarios will help users adopt the new
solution faster. Investing in the right training at the right time will help your end-users embrace change and remove fear
from going live.
6. PROVIDE PROJECT VISIBILITY
Providing regular updates on the project status will help you manage expectations. Openly communicate
any challenges facing the project that may impact your go-live date. Set realistic expectations upfront and
keep expectations current in the minds of everyone to ensure they don't lose sight of the end goal or
lose momentum when bumps in the road occur.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION
The failure to embrace consistent communication and collaboration in an organization is one of the
leading factors in the collapse of a project.
Unless your team is trained on
using your new software, you
cannot expect to reap the full
benefits of the investment.
Regular updates provide
you, your people and your
management team peace of
mind that the project is under
control and moving forward.
