Here are some cri cal HCM implementa on best prac ces to consider when implemen ng a new solu on. Don't try to recreate what you have. Inves gate best prac ces and know that different solu ons have different ways of reaching the end results you want. • Bad data in is bad data period. Use the data conversion as an opportunity to cleanse and verify the data in your current solu ons before popula ng your new solu on. • Build in a con ngency fund to ensure you have the budget to deliver that dashboard no one told you about that suddenly has become a need-to-have. • Provide documenta on of your current prac ces and of your desired state to your vendor. • Documented processes, flowcharts and BPO's work great for this! By keeping checklists of all the required tasks, you can stay on top of everything. • Have one point of contact and clearly define responsibili es and deadlines of all those involved in the implementa on. It's also important to select the right approach for your organiza on, all at once or in phases. • For the project plan, iden fy mes when you will need your resources and ensure they are freed up to focus on the implementa on. If performance reviews are all due this week, don't book HR resources to be involved in the implementa on during that me frame. • Set a realis c meline and assess any risks or roadblocks that could impact the plan and/or schedule of your implementa on. By having a well-defined and planned so ware implementa on plan you will increase user adop on and decrease go-live related issues. • Project execu on is a key component to delivering projects on me and on budget. A reliable project plan and execu on process is one of the most cri cal aspects of a successful implementa on. A well thought out project plan should be used to manage the expecta ons of senior execu ves/sponsors regarding the outcome, scope, and how many resources are required on the project.
